Chinese New Year in Mataram

About 5,000 Buddhists and Kong Hu Cu believers in Mataram will celebrate Chinese New Year on Monday, 23 January 2012. This massive celebration held by giving ang pao for the elders who aged more than 70 years. They are around 385 persons from the biggest three tribes. They are including Chinese descent tribes in Mataram and surrounding areas. (more…)

NTB Added Festival For One Million Tourist Visit

Local government will hold Flower festival in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) next month until upcoming 52nd anniversary of NTB Province. Increasing Hotel Signed Tourism Development

Head of Persatuan Hotel and Restoran Indonesia (PHRI) NTB, I Gusti Lanang Patra said that the increasing of hotel building in Senggigi and Mataram is a sign for the development of tourism sector. The investor would like to invest their business capital definitely after seeing number of tourism visiting growth. “The investors interested in develop their business after seeing it development,” he said after answered numerous question from the journalist in a press conference toward the opening of Tourism Indonesian Mart and Expo (TIME) 2010 in Mataram. 127 Foreign Tourism Travel Businessmen Invited to NTB

After successfully held Tourism Indonesia Mart and Expo (TIME) 2010 on last 2009, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) would once again held the same event, TIME 2010 on October 12-15. There will be 127 foreign tourism travel invited as they were selected from 25 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia and those had confirmed their attendant. They will gathered through tourism business transaction with 73 travel companies from varied provinces in Indonesia and involve 30 travel companies in NTB. (more…)

Tourism Mart Made 17 Million Dollar Transaction

Transactions at the Tourism Indonesia Mart Expo (TIME) which took place from over the weekend in Senggigi Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara topped US$ 17,48 million. The amount was based on reports from tour and travel agents, hotels, and 97 airline offices from 15 provinces in Indonesia. The transactions were made by 127 agencies from 25 countries. (more…)

Scaling Rinjani by Bike

Three Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) students, members of the college’s Lawalata IPB environmental group, have set out on an arduous bicycle trip to the summit of Mount Rinjani in Lombok to commemorate Youth Pledge Day. Gilang Embang, Syukra Alhamda and Epi Saepi will cover a distance of approximately 1,800 kilometers from Bogor, West Java, up along the north coast of Java to Bali and Lombok, where they plan to summit Mt. Senggigi Festival

To keep continuous promotion to improve positioning of Lombok – a tropical island destination next to Bali – among the most sought after tropical holiday destinations in the region, the one week Senggigi Festival is scheduled between July 14th 2008 and July 20th 2008. The event will take place at Senggigi Square, the most popular beach resort area of Lombok, which is reachable in about 30 minutes drive from the airport.

The Head of West Lombok Tourism Office Tjok Suthendra Rai explains that the festival will also include a carnival attended by nine districts of the province as well as supporting delegation from Jakarta, North Sumatra, and Papua.

The opening ceremony will perform dance performance supported by traditional music expressing the spirit of local tourism industry in overcoming problems like natural disasters and community conflicts. “The theme is to express our existence – as a result of self-improvement due to honest introspection, to move towards a brighter future to all us”, he added.

During the festival visitors can enjoy traditional art performance, band jamboree, exhibition, production demonstration of traditional handicrafts, and cooking demonstration of traditional food.

To get en even wider promotion outreach, the organizer has already invited foreign language media including English, Korean, and Japanese, as well as a number of Singaporean travel agents in cooperation with Silk Air.
