NTB specifically Mataram should keep their guard on toward flood disaster. It is due to the information comes from Selaparang Mataram Meteorology predicted the rain will still fall for the next two days.

“From the satellite pictures analysis, heating and evaporation still takes place in NTB water area,” said head of observation and information division for Selaparang Meteorology Station, Oktaviana Indriyani when met by the press at his office, yesterday.
Hard rain for more than three hours on last Tuesday make most of Mataram city awash. Rivers passed in the middle of the city leaked since they could not accommodate the water debit. It is made half of the people lived at the riverbank have to take refugee. According to Oktaviana, there is el nino phenomenon happened on NTB water area several times ago which bring after effect to the rain intensity. The intensity is still in medium category due to the standard imposed by Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Bureau.

“This July precisely we should has already entering dry season. But due to the el nino phenomenon, this year dry season is wet-dry season,” she explained.

Oktaviana also conveyed that the highest wave will be 3 meter and will happen at NTB south coastal. The weather shall make the fishermen as well as the barge ship need to aware when sailing with keep watching over the weather estimation from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Department. It is due to the dangerous wave especially for the fishermen boat. Wave at Lombok Strait and Alas Strait is relative normal. It height reached 1.5 meter to 2.5 meter so ferry still could safely sailing but they should always keep their guard on.

“Small fishermen boat better not to sail for now,” she said.
