There are 18 participants consists of motorcycle taxi drivers and cidomo – buggy carter – and taxi driver in a story telling competition, about tourism object. The event held by NTB Cultural and Tourism Agency at Musem NTB yesterday.
Head of Manpower and Tourism Production Division of Tourism and Cultural Agency Nunung Triningsih said that this program is the first and his party satisfied with the implementation of this activity.
Initially they were targeting 30 participants. They failed fulfilled the target. According to Nunung, the cause of it perhaps they are not confident with this contest or feel afraid.
As the front line in the tourism industry, he viewed those three professions need special attention especially for their knowledge improvement. It is due to the bad information and service they give to the tourist could cause bed impression for the area.
“In the future we want even like this will be held routinely. We invite the front line such as taxi driver and potter,” he said to the press.
What quite shocking is some of the participants have high school qualification and speak English well. As been showed by some contestant, one of them named Mastar. He told the story whilst quoting some short English dialog in it.
The juries were humanist Jalaludin Arzaki, tourism observer Jalaludin and one delegation from Tourism Agency.
The winner would received trophy, charter, and hotel voucher and cash. “Even though they would not receive high value gift but we hope that this event will bring big impact to the community,” said Nunung.
