Volcanic Eruption for 1.800 Meter in Height
Tuesday (May 4) at 07.30 local time, Baru Jari mountain at Rinjani mountain range erupted and expelling gray smoke up to 1.200 meter height make the ash fall onto Senaru village of North Lombok, precisely located at the north of mountain area and befall to onto Sembalun Village of East Lombok. It is fear that the ash could damage the plants and people’s health around the area.
Barung Jari mountain during the last year, as been said by an officer from Volcanic Mountain Observation post in Sembalun East Lombok, Mutaharlin, Tuesday evening (May 4). “The ash spread to radius 13 kilometer,” he said.
Actually, Directorate of Vulcanology had issued climbing warning to its peak. The tourists only allowed climb the mountain until Plawanga limited with enjoying the natural view of Segara Anak Lake from afar. “They also not allowed to stay around that area but still we hard to control the climber,” he said. Climbing observation is part of the job of Rinjani Mountain National Park.
He viewed that the mountain would not bring out the larva, Baru Jari explosion itself is a dangerous one since it contain poison gas. Nowadays the weather at noon is around 24 degree and at night reached 22 degree.
