Head of Bulog Regional NTB – National Logistic Supply Organization of NTB – Rito Angky Pramono said that NTB’ rice is one among best quality rice in Indonesia.
“That’s why it is not too surprisingly for several provinces order rice from NTB to fulfill rice demand in their territory,” he said in Mataram.
Thought the quality is fine enough, he said that NTB’ rice price precisely the cheapest ones in the country. It cost Rp 5.500 and Rp 6.000 per kilogram. But as in other area the price is Rp 7.000 per kilogram up to Rp 9.000 per kilogram.
Because it so cheap, according to him, several regions asked for that rice delivery such as Bali, NTT, Medan and DKI Jakarta. For Bali, it had been sent 28.000 ton while in NTT for about 15.000 ton.
It is said that since it was cheap, Bulog did not conducting Operasi Pasar – market operation – since if it was conducted than the price of the rice will go down and disadvantage the farmer. In several traditional markets such as Kebon Roek, Ampenan, Sweta, Bulog open their stall and sell rice. But for today, that rice always left since lot of people bought it with the seller itself due to the same price.
In 2009, Bulog NTB targeting bought rice from the farmer for about 210.000 ton. The realization from January until today reached 268.000 or more than 100 percent. This due to continuous harvest all year.
The government in another side, keep ordered the farmer followed the cropping pattern that begin with rice then followed with Palawija. But there are farmer who got lazy to plant Palawija and continued it with rice thought there is water rarity in dry season, makes us always have harvest time even in that season.
