Participants of a two-day business forum between Indonesia and Middle Eastern countries on Wednesday visited a number of tourist objects in West Nusa Tenggara province and the site of the Lombok International Airport (BIL) project.

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor Lalu Serinata said here on Wednesday Middle Eastern businessmen attending the forum visited several tourist objects, including Kuta beach in Lombok island where UAE (United Arab Emirates) company PT Emaar would invest.

The governor said the province had many tourist objects which Middle Eastern business makers could invest in.

Meanwhile, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s special envoy for the Middle East, Alwi Shihab, said Lombok island had great tourism business potentials.

He said PT Emaar was keenly interested in investing in Lombok because the island had many beautiful beaches that could be developed into tourist attractions.

“Minor obstacles that may hamper investment in Lombok and West Nusa Tenggara should be overcome immediately because Middle East investors are waiting for positive responses from the local administration,” Alwi Shihab said.

The two-day business forum on February 18-19 between Indonesia and Middle East was held at the Senggigi tourist resort in Lombok island, and attended by at least 20 investors from Indonesia and the Middle East.

Domestic participants in the forum consisted of business makers from a number of provinces in Indonesia, including West Nusa Tenggara.

Opportunities for business between Indonesia and Middle Eastern countries were discussed at the forum, organized by Indonesia`s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
